Eleven students from the Rocklin Unified School District, grades 4 8, participated in the 2012 PCOE County Wide Oral Spelling Bee. Students competed against 41 top spellers from 11 other Placer County School Districts.

Aaron Yoshikawa - Rocklin Elementary, 4th grade placed 9th
Xian Lun Zeng - Rocklin Elementary, 4th grade placed 13th
Tamsen Dean - Rocklin Elementary, 5th grade placed 3rd
Keri Chen - Sunset Ranch, 5th grade placed 8th
Max Miller - Valley View, 5th grade placed 7th
Brian Lee -Rocklin Elementary, 6th grade placed 6th
Matthew Aquino -Sunset Ranch, 6th grade placed 10th
Steven Abramowitz -Granite Oaks, 7th grade placed 1st
Clayton Barnack -Granite Oaks, 7th grade placed 4th
Kirandeep Bains - Spring View, 8th grade placed 6th
Special recognition went to Steven Abramowitz, who placed first, county wide, in 7th grade. Abramowitz also placed first in the Grand Champion Round, identifying him as the top speller county wide (grades 4 8) and landing him a spot to compete at the State Level Spelling Bee.
