This book is about a girl named Annie Lockwood.  She goes to a mansion to find her boyfriend and imagines that she is in a long ago time, and all of a sudden she is in the mansion with the Stratford family.  Annie then meets Strat and they fall in love.  But what about Hattie?  Annie must decide if she should stay with Strat or go back home.  This is a series of 4. Sequel:  Out of Time.

This is a very suspenseful book.  It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.  I loved it so much!

Lirael: Daughter of the Clayr by Garth Nix 5 stars
Reviewed by Alina, grade 7

You will enjoy going along with Lirael on her adventure to fulfill her destiny.  On her journey, she finds out about her unknown father and finds her father's family.  She finds out who she is, and that her destiny isolates her from the Clayr, her people.  The book is set in the present, in "the old kingdom" where technology does not work.  There are weird but exciting magical events and creatures, as well as drama and humor.  P.S. Only read this book if you're into fantasy.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (the book) by Lemony Snicket 5 stars
Reviewed by Ramandeep, grade 7

What other kids will enjoy abut this book is the horrible lives of the Baudelaire orphans.  Even though the author keeps repeating that you should not read the series, you should, because you will enjoy the suspense and "miserability" in these "terrible" books.  You will find all kinds of events whenever Count Olaf, the Baudelaire's first guardian since their parents' deaths, tried to get the Baudelaire children's fortune.  Some of the new guardians get killed, and some spend the rest of their lives being miserable with the Baudelaires' bad luck following them around wherever they go.  So watch out!

A Series of Unfortunate Events (the series) by Lemony Snicket 5 stars
Reviewed by Ramandeep, grade 7

Students will enjoy:  all the mysteries the Baudelaire orphans solve, how Count Olaf is alwasy following them at every step, and some of the suspenseful scenes in the books when Violet tries to solve something with Klaus & Sunny.

The Sword of Shanara  by Terry Brooks  5 stars

This is a cool, captivating fantasy.

The Immortals Series by Tamora Pierce 5 stars
Reviewed by Laura, grade 8

These books follow a girl, Daine, through another world of magic, danger, and adventures. Daine finds she possesses ""wild magic"" after her family is murdered and is trained by her friend to harness and use her gift. Her magic brings her and her friends many adventures and dangers, but the romance and comedy are there, too!

Riding Freedom by Pam Muņoz Ryan 5 stars

It's a great story about a girl named Charlotte who's parents are killed in an accident when she was very young, and she has to live in an orphanage. One of her best friends is adopted and she can't take it, so she runs away.  She cuts of her long, red braids and pretends to be a boy. She works and becomes very successful and loves horses. It's a great book. ( IREAD IT IN ONE DAY!!)

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton 5 stars
