Reading Classes:

Third Quarter reading goals are based on reading 20 minutes per day.

Mathematics Classes:

We have two sections of Pre-Algebra and two sections of Algebra I. Algebra I is offered for high school credit & semester grades will appear on students’ permanent high school records which will affect their cumulative high school GPAs. In order to advance on to Geometry next year, students must complete Algebra I with two semester grades of “C” or better, pass all unit tests with grades of “C” or better and successfully complete the course final. Pre-Algebra is offered for 8^th grade credit & will appear on the 8^th grade transcript.

Homework is assigned each day & all must work must be clearly shown to receive credit. For your convenience, all class assignments will be posted online for 2 weeks & an ongoing assignment log will be kept in the classroom.. Daily work is due @ the beginning of class the next class day & will be eligible for a stamp only @ that time. A stamp will indicate that the work is eligible to receive the full 5 pt effort grade. If there is no stamp, then 4pts will be the maximum available. At the end of the week, students are to attach daily work in order behind the completed cover sheet, which is also worth 5 points, & turn in the completed work packet the following Monday.

Students will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the last day’s math lesson before starting the new day’s lesson. They will then have the opportunity to make any correction/additions to their work before requesting a stamp. Students are encouraged to check their daily work answers in the teachers’ book, @ the back of their books & online @ www. hotmath.com . Absent & late work policies as outlined in the student handbook will be enforced.

A test will be given @ the end of each unit. Partial credit will be awarded for work shown towards a correct solution even though minor errors may be present. However, the policy is in all homework, class work & tests….NO WORK = NO CREDIT! If a student earns less than 70% on a unit test, he/she may complete the corrective process & retake the test for a maximum of 70%. This can usually be accomplished during our 5^th period classes; but students are always welcome to ask for extra help before school & after school, as well.

Quarter grades will be based on 80% test results + 20% homework/classwork. Semester grades will be the average of the two quarter grades. All grades will be posted online for your convenience.

Since all tests are common assessments, completed tests must be kept by the teacher.

Algebra I grades will appear on the high school transcript & affect high school cumulative GPA.

DEADLINE FOR 3rd QUARTER WORK = Wed 3/24/10 @ 3:40 pm

Math Tests =80% of grade. Math Classwork/Homework = 20%

AR Tests = 100% of grade
